Ummah Centre for the blind
Ummah centre for the blind was established in the year 2014 to provide free Islamic and secular education to Blind people of Pakistan. This centre is equipped with all modern facilities necessary for education, enlightenment and wellbeing of the blind persons including Braille Quran and IT Training with the help of assistive technology.
Hafiz Haroon Rasheed, who is a visually impaired person, is running this unique Project. Hafiz Haroon Rasheed has a life time struggle for the welfare of blind community. His four brothers are also blind, so one can imagine the difficulties and helplessness faced by his family. Despite blindness and hurdles, Hafiz Haroon Rasheed worked a lot for blind community. He strongly believes that, “Nothing can stop the man with right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude”. By achieving the goal of Braille Quran, he says about his success, “The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen”.
Alhamdulillah today, over 20 poor students with special needs are provided with free education/rehabilitation, food and boarding.
